TCSI is a leading Underwriting Management Company specializing in the development and management of insurance programs and products for the commercial commodities transportation industry. TCSI is a comprehensive, turnkey operation with the ability to underwrite, issue policies and endorsements, arrange for quality engineering and loss control, provide statistical analysis, complete regulatory filings and claims overview.
The staff of TCSI consists of approximately 30 insurance professionals. The underwriting department consists of around 20 people including the underwriting manager, underwriters, underwriting assistants, and clerical support unit and compliance. The accounting department consists of around 10 people that handle various areas such as collection, billing, receipt monitoring, payroll, etc.
TCSI was founded in 1988 primarily as a Managing General Agency. We represent multiple insurance markets and have the ability to offer various lines of coverage for Commercial Auto and General Liability.
Because of TCSI’s availability to access various other specialized insurance markets, we can provide different coverages on a monoline basis or contingent with our primary liability coverage to fit customer’s needs.
TCSI has a national active network of approximately 100 brokers located in 40 different states. Many of these brokers have been with TCSI on a long term basis and have developed strong relationships with us. TCSI had $81 million gross written premiums for the year 2006.
Management Team
Carmine A. Fiore, President and Chief Operating Officer, founded TCS in 1988. After 50 plus years of Insurance and Reinsurance experience, Mr. Fiore is one of the leading specialists in the transportation industry. He has provided management and development programs to insurance companies and Lloyd's of London representing the transportation industry.
Janet Dawkins, Corporate Secretary, has served as Corporate Secretary to the President since 1988.
Martin Dawkins, Jr. Financial Vice President - Management Information System (MIS), is responsible for the financial, statistical and administrative operation of each program. Mr. Dawkins has over 26 years experience and has been associated with Mr. Fiore since 1977. He has also taken numerous continuing education courses from several leading facilities including American Business Management, Chubb and NYU.
Steven Vallejo, Vice President Underwriting, joined TCSI in 1988 as a Transportation Underwriter. Steven is a graduate of Iona College, having received his B.B.A. in 1982. To further his insurance knowledge, he has taken many courses at the College of Insurance in New York.
Underwriting Department
There are over a dozen underwriters, assistant underwriters, and support staff all devoted to the servicing and maintaining of the named insured’s insurance policy. Our underwriter’s primary goal is to review account submissions and to provide adequate coverage and reasonable as well as competitive quotes for insurance. Our assistant underwriters and support staff help maintain this underwriting process and service any needs during the policy effective period. All associates are easily accessible and there to assist any needs that may arise.
Accounting Department
There are six accounting personnel whose duties are varied and include the monthly collections of premiums, the preparation and presentation of financial reports, internal audits on all accounts and handling of claim deductible recoveries. TCSI accounting has transactions with various banks and finance companies as applicable when dealing with such issues as Letters of Credit or financed premiums.
Claims Service
No matter which carrier provides coverage to you or your client, the claims service will always be professional with top-quality service when you need it. Our Lincoln General market provides direct claims service offering Large Account Special Handling (LASH) services and free accident kits. Our National Specialty market provides third party claims service through Fleming and Hall, who provides specialization and close supervision of claims handling that has been proven to reduce overall expenses and combined loss ratios. Loss Control Service
TCSI utilizes several loss control vendors from across the country with whom we have had a relationship for over a decade. All surveys done for you or your clients operations are done free of charge. However we do ask that any recommendations made by our loss control engineers, for the sake of improving the safety of the operations, be responded to in a timely manner. These engineers may be contacted independently following our survey for further advice or assistance should you or your client choose the additional services they offer.
